funny gun story...

i have a few anti gunners in my circle of friends that i constantly try to convert.

so i was at a friends house and shes one of the usual types, works in a bookstore, runs aids awareness stuff and rescues poor unfortunate dogs and cats.

i had my target pistol with me cause i was headed for the range after that and i brought it into her house in its case,,,i didnt want to leave it in the car

she just hadda see it (the pistol you perverts) so i whips it out (again the pistol) and give her a down and dirty on gun safety, show her how to clear it and check if its clear,

we talk muzzle direction and finger off the trigger, always treat it as if its loaded, don't ever point it at anything you don't want to destroy, etc.

ok, after that i show her proper grip and the pretty red dot in the sight and explain a little about trigger control.

now she's ready for a dry fire, we check the chamber again just to make a point of it and now she's on her own.

first thing she does?

points it at poor old henry the dog and says, "now hold still henry so i can get a good aim at ya!" :what:

and then we hear, "click!"

this from a peace and love, bean sprout eatin', save the animals love child of the 70's

i was appalled!! i couldn't believe it!!

so i'm like, "uh, you knowwww..." and she goes, "yea, i can't believe i just did that." and we moved her over onto the cutesy little knick knacks instead.

talk about the fine line between good and evil...

:D

Yep, typical anti,,,,has no common sense and they don't trust even themselves with a firearm, and to top that, she even had to prove that she couldn't be trusted.

I have to say, I don't think this is that big of a deal. The gun was checked and double-checked. She was having a little fun pointing at her dog. I dry fire at my cat all the time.

Ummmmm. . . . yeah. Well, if you don't mind shooting your cat, I guess that's OK. I kinda like my dogs, so I don't point guns at them.
Personally, I mostly dry fire at the television. I don't care if it gets shot, and there are a couple of empty rooms on the other side to catch bullets.

Pointing a gun at anything you do not intend to destroy, be the gun empty or not, is a violation of basic gun safety. I am afraid to tell you this, but one of these times your kitty is going to be shot with an empty gun, and I bet I can guess what the first thing is that will come out of your mouth.

It all boils down to common sense and basic gun safety, period.

"I wonder if that was a Freudian slip?"

You can all see what is coming, but.....................
When I was a kid, I used to dry fire my BB gun all the time at the dog. I would think to myself, if that was a deer, I would hold right there.............. Well, you guessed it, one time the gun wan't empty and I shot my dog with a BB "right there" behind the front shoulder. AND, put a hole through the screen door on the back porch. Even at that point in my life, I knew the safety rules involving guns. I obviously just didn't follow them. I didn't check to see if it was loaded, and I aimed it at something I didn't intend to shoot. Luckily it was a BB gun and the dog just yelped.

Bad idea to dry fire at animals or humans.

yea, we knew it was safe but gun safety says she still did a no - no...

thats how accidents (negligents?) are prevented, a gun is loaded whether it is or not.

i just thought it was funny cause here you got miss peace and love not war, save the whales, blah blah and the first thing she ever points a gun at is a living being...

the word ironic is probably a better description than funny,,,

now that i think about it more...

It really does prove the point that lot's of anti's and peacenicks in general really do have all sorts of violent thoughts and images in their heads and project the liberal-peacenik image to compensate.

They're against guns, but only because they're afraid of what they'd do if they posessed them. They can never admit that of course, so they have to be against everyone owning guns, "for the greater good".

Rather than "got him" I think it would be more like; Honey, it was unloaded, I don't know what we are going to tell the kids, yes I will clean it up, yes I will call the carpet cleaners first thing in the morning, Oh my god let me go down the basement and see what it hit, who is that in the drive way ? THE POLICE ? SHOTS FIRED ? Well, I had a little accident officer, really I didn't mean to shoot the kids cat. NO I didn't mean to shoot in the hosue either. Yes, I know there is a law against it. Yes I have heard of the SPCA..................................

Think TV instead of cat and this changes how exactly? You blow a hole in your TV, or wall, or mirror, and you're still going to be chasing that bullet down. Or, don't you ever dry fire in your house?

No, guilty as charged, I dry fire in the house all the time. Not at the TV, it is mounted up on the wall, like in a hotel room. It is only on during baseball and football season.

Come on, it's funny. Or at least I thought so.

Actually, I have had a ND in the house before. I only regret that I wasn't aiming at the cat at that particular moment.

times changed? why? I thought the cat was ALWAYS an appropriate dry fire target, now the dog, that's another story...

Pointing a gun at one of my cats would result in something of an altercation. At one of my parents' cats (any one of 12) would get you shot, and burried out in a swamp...

Cat's are free range targets (varmints). :p

Seriously though, before I even dry fire at the TV I've dry fired through all my cylinders TWICE in a safe direction.

Adherence to basic gun safety is one of the few ways to spread the word among anti's.
