I'm curious what the make and model is of the snub nose 38 is he buys in the movie.

Shoot, I'd hazzad a guess it's either a colt detective special, or a Smith model 60 but I'll see if I can find out.

I could sell this gun in Harlem for $500 today - but I just deal high
quality goods to high quality people.(pause)Now this may be a little
big for practical use, in which case I'd recommend the .38 Smith and
Wesson Special. Fine solid gun - nickel plated. Snub-nosed, otherwise
the same as the service revolver. Now that'll stop anything that moves
and it's handy, flexible. The Magnum, you know, that's only if you want
to splatter it against the wall. The movies have driven up the price of
the Magnum anyway. Everybody wants them now. But the Wesson .38 - only
$250 - and worth every dime of it.(he hefts the .38)Throw in a holster
for $10.

I thought it was a model 10.

He misidentifies at least two of the guns. The one he says is a Walther is an Astra Constable. The one he says is a .25 caliber Colt is a Smith and Wesson Escort. I think the revolver is a Smith M10.

I watched the movie again with the subtitles on and he just says 38 nickle plated snum nose, it looks like a smith but that is a long list of guns, I'll look up the ones sugested and see if I find a match.

Phil is dead-on correct. The dialogue in Taxi Driver doesn't match the guns on the screen. Happens all the time in Hollywood.

Looked like either a Model 10 or a Model 12 (airweight) snubnose. The sights were fixed and it appeared to have the forward lock for the ejector rod. Classic S&W feature.

As far as the dialouge...well this time I'll give it to the movie. The guy is a street dealer. He sells both guns and drugs. A hustler. He isn't necessarily all that knowledgable and his customers aren't going to be all that competent on the subject of firearms either. It works.

I just watched it and he does not name what kind of gun either of the revolvers, he goes into some detail about what kind of guns the semi autos are but says nothing about the revolvers except for the calibur and finish, jkwas is pretty off on that quote, I aassume hes going from memory.

I don't have a copy of the movie, but I found that quote on a site that posts original movie scripts, so I couldn't be sure that it wasn't changed during shooting. But from memory it looked like a plated steel square butt model 10. Maybe they deleted the Manufacturer names when editing the movie for legal reasons.

I'd definitly believe that, it was probably in the original scripts but no company wants their name in a movie involving murder, a good example would be in texas chainsaw masacre they removed the brand name off the chainsaw.
