I'm a city boy....always have been, although I do enjoy vacationing in the country or seashore resorts.
Anyway....what are the largest cities that allow unrestricted conceal carry?

Well, I'll have to speak up for the fourth largest city in the US, Houston, and say by my estimation it is gun-friendlier than pretty much any other comparably sized city. Although recent state legislation would soon make it moot anyway, I am not aware of any city restrictions on concealed carry nor am I aware of any city facilities that post legal restrictions on concealed carry. There are some Gun-Buster (circle/slash over a pistol) signs on some of the convention facilities, but those can be ignored by CHL holders.

I also would have to say that the businesses here seem to be at the very least accomodating of concealed carry, as I have only seen one post a "No Guns" sign, and even that one was not posted properly and could have been ignored.

I'm curious if any fellow Houstonians chime in and contradict me, but that is my experience.

Re-reading the original question, given Houston is 4th in size behind NY, LA, and Chicago, you would have to say it is without question the largest city that allows "shall issue" concealed carry.

Indianapolis is also real gun friendly but we're not as big a Houston. This is a good thing IMNSHO :D :D

I don't know who's number Five, but Phoenix is the 6th largest city in America, and we have shall-issue carry as well as open carry.

The George R. Brown has 30.06 signs above the inner doorways on the ground floor. I can't think of any other city buildings that have genuine 30.06 signs, but as you mentioned, quite a few have generic "no guns" signs. I can count the number of genuine 30.06 signs I've seen on private property on one hand, too.

sonny, if you are looking to vacation, then Houston may or may not be a good choice depending on your state's license (Florida license is a great thing to have) as Tejas severely limits reciprocity.

Indianapolis, while only #14, recognizes the licenses of all other states and foreign nations. I am unaware of any other larger cities that are so gun friendly.
