Do Glocks have magazine disconnects? I'm not new to handguns, but I'm new to Glocks and am considering buying one. However, if they have magazine disconnects, that will disqualify them from consideration, at least for me.

(For those of y'all who don't know, magazine disconnectors are "safety" devices whose intention is to prevent the gun from firing the cartridge in the chamber if the magazine isn't fully seated) The idea was that if a prisoner, bad guy or suspect made a grab for the gun, the officer could drop the mag, and thus sterilize the firearm.

Glocks are simple manufactured ingenious pistols. You should try one out anyways.

It's a good thing they don't... otherwise to field strip you've have to remove your mag, clear the chamber, either empty your mag*/reinsert or insert an empty one, dry fire, remove the mag, and remove the slide.

*I wouldn't feel right about dry-firing with an empty chamber but a full mag:uhoh: .

Do I sense sarcasm? lol
I happen to think that it can be a great safety device for a patrolman while it is a terrible safety hazzard to a soldier or SWAT team member. For cops who routinely get into physical scuffles with perps it could prove invaluable. Why are people so opposed to it? We don't have to buy them, but they could still be issued to LEOs. Any LEOs with first hand experience in the struggle for gun retention, it would be great if you chimed in.
(Disclaimer: I am not an LEO and have formed my opinion on this subject almost solely from watching COPS on TV)
Asbestos suit is on. Flame away!

I know future models may have them, but ASAIK, no mag disconnects on the Glocks ;)
