F4, do a search here on the P99, you'll see a huge number of positive comments on the P99. I like the gun so much I have two of them. The P99 is the best polymer handgun out there IMO.

It's only good if it fits your hand well... oh yeah, it comes with different backstraps! :D

I like my wife's P99 a lot.

ive had mine a year now! it took about 50 rounds to "break it in"
it doesnt jam anymore. the backstraps are easily adjustable an the sites are easy to as the tools are supplied in the kit! it took a little getting used to the trigger pull though but now its pleasent.
my next Walther purchase will either be the 22 variant for the family use of, an a PPK/S for CC

I really like my Walther P99s, all four of them. Superb trigger, though it may take a good 500 rounds through the pistol for it to get that way. :D

Great, great, GREAT pistol. Check out Mr. Lunde's website. I believe it to be the most truthful compendium of information on the P99 that can be found on the web.

Out of all my pistols, the Walther P99 has the best grip. It took awhile to get used to the stryker fired mechanism and how it all works. I still like the exposed hammer and safety lever on my HK USP's, but the Walther is as well built in quality and reliability as the HK and cheaper to boot.

I hated the one I had.

Wierd, creepy trigger.
I't shoot way low and left at 7 yards.

I made the mistake of listening the hype on this board and wasting my money on one.:barf:

WORST gun I've ever owned.

sounds like trigger pull. if your not used to the "feel" of it your pulling the trigger to hard an throwing your aim off.

shoot right handed?

takes alot of practice on em for concise shots

I too had trouble with the one I owned. My trigger finger ended up in weird contorted positions when I fired the gun. I couldn't hit a barn with it (broad nor narrow side). I have the same problem with Kahrs. It was reliable however.

Excellent weapon. I haven't had any problems out of mine.

Accurate, comfortable and in .40S&W .....What more can you ask for?

How would you compare it to a Glock trigger. The thing is, I love the Glock trigger, but cannot bring myself to buy one. I am hoping to find something similar (or better) in the P99 QA. Thanks,

Mark

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I have always found it highly suspicious that a gun designed for 9mm would consistently choke on 115 grain ball, even during wear in. It just doesn't make sense, and makes me wonder "if 115 grain ball doesn't work in a clean gun, how well are HPs going to feed in a dirty gun?"

But, they do seem to work, it just seems really weird. Nice grip, decent DA pull, cool decocker design, great HK mag release.

What about the new P99 with the "Glock-like" trigger unit?

A couple people asked about the Walther P99QA (aka, "the Walther P99 with a Glock-like trigger"). One of the features that makes the Walther P99 shine, at least in my opinion, is its trigger, in particular its SA trigger and its extremely short and crisp reset. I'd think that you'd lose the first one (nice SA trigger) by going with the P99QA, and possibly the second. Perhaps this is why all four of my P99s have the standard SA/DA trigger. If you want a Glock-like trigger, why not simply stick with the tried and true Glock? The Walther P99QA is available in only one color (all-black, but there were apparently a small number of Military versions made very early in its development), which may be an indicator of its sales.

The P99 is a decent gun, I wasn't impressed or bothered by the trigger. However, I probably would have liked it more had I gotten to try it with the large backstrap. In medium trim, it was servicable, but not comfy. But I have big hands.

the 22 version of it however is a MUCH smaller gun, and was unusable for me due to long fingers/ big hands, and it's size and trigger.

Mine never choked on any 'type' or 'weight' of ammo, even during break-in. Very rare stovepipes with crappy practice ammo (like 1 in 500 using Olympic 124 g). I bought it for the design features and I'm happy.

Love mine. Fits me better than anything else I have tried so far and has eaten anything I give it without a single problem so far. As you can see, there are ALOT of others who feel the same way. I don't think this is "hype". Maybe you got a lemon notbubba? Did you send the gun back to WA to have it looked at?

Love mine, no problems at all. Got use to the trigger the second time I used it, shoots ragged holes. When at the range almost everyone wants to shoot it and all like the feel.

raz-0 Large backstrap makes a big difference for large hands. I changed mine and fell in love...:)

My P99 was the last in a string of plastic pistols I bought while trying to find one I liked. I liked the P99 better than the two Glocks, or the HK USP compact I tried first. I eventually sold it anyway. I didn't mind the dual action trigger setup, but there was something weird about the way the trigger felt. I've given up on plastic completely and don't know how I ever let myself be suckered into trying them in the first place.--Leigh

Neither of my P99's has had any problems with 115 gr ammo, even during the break in period. I have over 5,000 rnds through my first P99 with not a single problem.

Put my name in the "thinks it's an excellent handgun" column. Never had a problem at all (ok, I had a reload get hung once).

Love the trigger pull, trigger reset, ergonomics, price, ambi mag release (I'm right handed but like to use my trigger finger), decocker, 16+1 capacity.

Hate the hicap mag price, proprietary rail

Holsters are plentiful, but not as much as other polymer pistols, not to be named in my response ):neener:

Hope for the sunsetting of the ban and a rail conversion (I can only afford 1 M6 :( )
