Gents,

I know some of you guys have picked one of these up based on past posts. I am referring to the fancier Armscor models rather than the GI Rock Islands. How are they holding up? I was thinking about picking one up.

I picked one of the enhanched models about 2 weeks ago. I also have a kimber custom. 1st the armscor has the bells and whistles but the fit isn't in the same league as the kimber. For some examples the parts look like they are just dropped in on the armscor, they have sharper edges. The barrel isn't rounded off on the front sight end it looks like it was just cut off and left that way. I had to pull out the ambi safety because the left paddle rubs on the plunger tube. I filed it now it doesn't. The right side of the safety also rubs on the frame. The gun has a decent trigger but it was a little heavy probably between 5 and 6 pounds. The gun also is pretty accurate, not as good as my kimber but very acceptable. Now for the good part. All I shoot is hand loads. The chamber on the barrel was cut so tight that factory ammo would feed but my handloads wouldn't chamber at all. I called armscor precision and talked to the smith(he's a good guy). He said he would recut the chamber for my hand loads. So I sent my barrel, some dummy rounds and I also sent my slide because the extractor could use a little adjustment too. They got there friday afternoon. I talked to the smith on monday he said it would be shipped back to me on tuesday. Very good service in my opinion. Now I know I sound negative about this gun but I actually think it has some potential once I get the bugs out of it. I just wanted to be staight forward with you. Mark

Thanks for the info! I actually have gotten sidetracked. Found an amazing deal on a NIB Loaded Operator, so I had to take it. Not exactly the cheap beater I was looking for, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do!

For an update I got my barrel and slide back today. It was six days turnaround and my barrel will now feed my handloads and the extractor is right. Very good service. I'll update this weekend after I shoot it. Mark
