The Green City Council in Ohio is considering changes to the city's firearms ordinance that would ban the use of single-projectile ammunition for rifles, pistols, and revolvers, the Akron Beacon Journal reported May 18. Is this an ordinance that would only effect hunting, plenty of areas around here are shotgun only. In a highly populated area that might not be so bad (though I'd prefer they improve hunter education instead of legislation if possible).

However, if the wording is less specific this could be a huge problem. If the wording of the law is more general this could outlaw the use of anything but shotguns or shotshells for home defense. Yes, a 12ga may be the best overall home defense weapon (though I think a .223 carbine gives a 12ga a run for its money for this use), however a handgun is much more versatile and sometimes you just won't have a long-gun that is readily available depending on where you are in the house or what you are doing.

Depending on wording this can be really bad.

This was discussed before, though the thread has since died (I think).

FWIW, I think the area in question is pretty well developed. If it, in fact, is developed, there might not be areas safe for hunting with anything but shot. This law would be a sensible reflection of that.

Also, I don't think they're talking about banning the possession or sale of such items, just their use in hunting. Again...I think.

A rule affecting hunting is listed under "gun violence". What idiot creates these headers?
