If I did anything like this, pointing the firearm at the camera, I'd find my self in deep shi .... errrrr ...... sheep dip!

Western Australia's finest. (Sigh)

Oh well, at least they look like they're enjoying themselves.

PS: These are country cops, and that's not their uniform they're wearing -- they're sort of coveralls they use for training, dirty bushwork etc.

Can't that newspaper clipping be used as incriminating evidence for careless use of a firearm or something?

I can't fathom why the pigs are above the law, and it's something that ticks me off.

I've seen lots of these kinds of stories with similar pics. Never ceases to bug the crap outta me.

You could use the camera's timer to take that picture, no worries.

Andy

Yes, of course you would use a timer -- well, I sure would! :D

And i have it on the best authority that the firearms were checked, cleared and double-checked.

Even so ...

As a Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) member, I would in all probability be suspended or expelled from my club for doing this. (The rule is simple -- no cameras in front of the muzzle; timer or no timer.) If my photo was published in the newspaper doing this, I could expect a visit from the police wanting a "Please explain".

If you have a close look, they don't even appear to be on the firing line -- they seem to be somewhere "downrange" (?). We don't allow handguns to be unholstered anywhere except on the firing line or in a specified, safe "de-rigging" area. The firing line appears to be the covered shed behind them.

Look, I don't really mind the coppers enjoying themselves and not being afraid to show it -- they look like decent people, and most country coppers are not anti-gun. I just sometimes get a bit tetchy about the "one rule for them and another for us" thing.

I think GWB "liberated" the wrong people.

What would you think of that, Bruce? Surgical strikes on Canberra and all state/provincial legislative houses, maybe a not-so-surgical strike on Sydney (your call), then a call for surrender and adoption of a new constitution, one with strong RKBA provisions (and correct rules for football, of course ;) ).

Sounds good to me....just make sure only politicians and no humans are injured:D

What about it Bruce?

Maybe force Johnny to seek asylum in Indonesia?

The football thing will be tough, though:uhoh:

Hmmm, I'm not quite sure I like that idea. :uhoh:

Nor I.
As for the football, we'll have to send missionaries to convert you heathens to the One True Code: Aussie Rules.

I like the U.N. Blue colored uniforms too. Is that part of the conversion?:D

The biggest safety violation that can't be explained away is why does the guy in the center have his finger on the trigger? The guy on the right clearly doesn't, and the women on the left can't be clearly seen; but the one with his pistol leveled should NOT have his finger on the trigger.

It looks like the middle guy has a round in the chamber!:uhoh:

Instead of a (obviously) useless shooting class (that SHOULD include gun safety rules), they look like they should have been chased out on a 3 mile run every morning...

compared to some Aussie cops.

In Queensland cops are put off the force when their bellies interfere with the steering wheel of their patrol cars.

How's that for a standard of physical fitness?

So why do the cops in Australia need guns? I thought guns were illegal among the peasants. Wouldn't sharp sticks and harsh language be sufficient for the overseers?

What is that round pudgy soft stuff? The way it sort of flows over their belts? Just what are they storing in their United Nations baby blue shirts? Is it some kind of body armor?:D
