A VERY good friend just retired as a LEO and he will be moving to Florida.

He expects to take a part-time job as an armed security guard.

Since he had to turn in all his LEO issued equipment upon retirement, including his bullet proof vest, I thought I would get him a new bullet proof vest as his retirement gift.

I see a bullet proof vest on ebay that is new and is the right size for my friend.

Here is the link:

My questions:

1 -- Does any other member use an American Body Armor bullet proof vest and what do you think of it?

2 -- Is a Level 2 bullet proof vest okay for armed security work or should I get him a higher level vest?

Thanks...

I had an ABA vest which served me well. (Not meant to imply that I was ever shot with it on.) I know several LEOs who trust their lives with them. (For what it is worth, one way or another.)

Level II body armor is appropriate for street wear, and is what most LEOs I am familiar with wear.
