What would you do?

Sunday, May 25th I bought a handgun at a FFL who was going out of buisness. I don't have a concealed cary permit so was supposed to wait till today for delivery. I have yet to hear from them. They no longer have a retail space. Their phone number has voicemail which is full. I spoke to the City hall and found the president's name, but no further info could be released to me w/o proper paperwork being filed.

How much are you out? What's the fellow's name, maybe someone here knows him and can get you in touch. Otherwise, there are a slew of ways to find people, some harder/more expensive than others, but it can be done. You just need to determine how much time you are willing to invest.

I don't think it matters how much I'm out. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to give his name just yet.

Allow a bit more time as a 'grace'' period then ... consider kickin up a storm. I assume you have paperwork so .... you have proof of purchase ..... wish you luck.

I'd start by going to the police and filing a report, if only to document matters if and/or when they reach court.

Greeting's All,
My friend Standing Wolf is correct; as proper documentation
could possibly be needed in a court of law. So far, no type
of offense or incident has been committed; but just
in case, its better to be safe than sorry. Good luck in your
quest!
Best Wishes,

Well it's looking like the $h!* head isn't going to contact me. I went as far as finding his home phone number and leaving messages. This afternoon I will speak to the police. His name is John G Clifford Jr. I'd recomend avoiding transactions with this man like the plague. I would be supprised if any high roaders know him cause he doesn't seem the high road type. Thanks for your responces.

I would suggest bringing a friend if he sounded at all strange on the phone. I am glad that things are looking up. If he was/is a FFL ??? Is the store you are meeting at doing the transfer? Make sure you get a signed receipt.

The local LEO's have little or nothing to do with a case like this. It's a civil matter, as I'm sure they'd tell you. You, having given money for products not delivered, likely have rights under your state's version of the UCC. You may have other rights under common law. The cops aren't going to know squat about this, or be able to help you. Depending on the amount of money involved, it may be a matter for small claims court. In any event, you need to think about serving process on him, not about calling the cops.

I thought that a firearm that might be in my name was elswhere so I thought the police might need notification. The store we met at was a grocery near by. He was twenty-five minutes late. I finished signing all the remaining papers and went straight to the range. I bought a Browning BDA 380 acp nickel. It shoots nice and groups tight, but I'm not used to the sight picture. it's not drive the dot's like my TZ it seems to be the pumkin on the fence type because most of my shots were about 3 to 5 inches high.
