I have the chance to buy an STI Eagle for $1100.00, but I wanted to check with you guys first to make sure it's worth the money. I have pictures and it does have some wear on it, but I don't care about that. I want to know:
IS it worth the $1100.00???
HOW much of the barrels life has been used at 10,000 rounds???
Description:
STI 5" Limited gun for sale: Blued, stippled grip, brazos fiber front, bomar rear, clark magwell, thumbguard, ambis, gun is EXTREMELY reliable, has around 10,000 rounds through it, very accurate, has wear marks from use. Comes with two 126mm mags, thanks for looking.
I think I am going for it, but wanted to get some backup.
Thanks,
Joe

Joe, $1100 isn't bad for an Eagle. New the best you will do is in the mid $1600's. 10K is just getting going for a well fit Eagle, I would expect 100K with some minor small part replacements. If it is reliable and reasonably accurate I think the price is pretty good.
Can you get it with a 3 day 100 rounds of factory ammo (specified by the seller) or seller supplied ammunition inspection period? That will take all questions out, it works or it doesn't.

I can certainly ask him if he'll let me fire it before we seal the deal. He has used it himself for competition and said he has won several matches in the past using it.

I wore out the barrel of my first IPSC gun. It took 80,000 rounds.

Appreciate the answers. I emailed STI and they sent me back some great replies. I'll paste them in here so everyone can have the info:
Questions:
1. Would you suggest me sending it to STI to check it out?
A: This is not something the company does. I do have some qualified smiths that will look at it for you. If so; what would it cost?
B: That’s between you and whoever you send it to. (if you choose one of our guys.)
2. Would you suggest I get the pistol reblued? If so; what would it cost?
Not unless you are worried about looks, or corrosion. (Cost:See answer 1B.)
3. Would you suggest getting it rebuilt after 10,000 rounds?
Not unless it needs it. If so, what would it cost? (Cost:See 1B.)
4. What is the life of a barrel is rounds?
235,000 is the most I have seen on a FACTORY gun.
5. I am wondering if 10,000 is A LOT, MIDDLE, Just breaking in?
Just starting to warm up.
6. What kind of warranty do the STI products hold?
Life time as long as they are not severely altered.
6. Will I still have a warrantied pistol?
Buy the looks of the picture some parts of the gun still look factory like slide barrel and frame, but not the fire control.
7. I am afraid of it breaking and not being able to get repairs done under warranty.
That is one problem with purchasing used equipment.
6. Where can I get more mags? Any STI Distributor.
See our website
7. What holster would you recommend for IPSC/USPSA?
I recommend a ghost holster, but I’m no expert on holsters. It’s simply the one I have choose after trying out a few.
Anyway, I figured this might answer some questions from other people as well. I've see people ask these questions quite a bit on the STI / SVI thread.
Thanks,
Joe
