Is this an old caliber or a wildcat? I'm looking.

Why not neck down 6.5x284 brass? Only going from 264 down to .25 caliber. Might be some light neck turning.

Ditchtiger,I friend I served with in Nam inherited the rifle. He said it had a Douglas barrel on a Mauser action. He inherited dies with it.
I am a 25 caliber fan and use a 257 Roberts handloaded with 117 gr Hornady BTSP. Byron

The 25x284 is a wildcat cartridge. You will have to make your own brass for it, no one I am aware of manufactures it. I`d go with 6.5x284 breass to work with. The 6.5 will require less neck sizeing and should be easier to do. Hornady, Lapua, and Nosler offer 6.5x284 brass and in a pinch 284 Winchester brass is available with Winchesters headstamp.
