Does anyone know how to tear down one of these little .22 cals? I can't figure out how to get it down to the barrell, receiver and slide. I clean it as well as I can but I just don't think I'm getting everything. Beretta says the manual is out of print and I don't want to try to force anything. The slide stop/safety will come out, but the slide won't come all the way forward and off. Any ideas? Thanks!:o

Hi. Take out the mag, put on the safety and lock the slide open. From the front of the bbl, push the bbl straight back toward the rear. You may have to "help" it with a mallet. Lift out the bbl from the rear through the top of the slide. Release the safety and just run the slide forward and off. You can do it!

Many thanks, sir! That worked exactly like you said it would! By the way, I am just down the road from you in Pompano Beach, and this little 948 is looking a little light in the bluing department, as does my old Marlin 336. I'll be in touch.

Thanks again!

I inherited a plinker built in 1958 from my father in law and have enjoyed it for several years but never did know how to break it down to really clean it. Never thought to beat on the end of the barrel, but had thought it might be a little stuck. Just for grins, after cleaning it up I inserted the shorter 3 1/2 inch barrel rather than the 6 inch that had always been on it. Pretty neat little pistol. I only have the one clip which only holds 8 shells plus one in the chamber. Ive read where there are 15 shell mags??? was that an option back in 1958?

Thanks for the assist
