I ordered one of these today at the LGS. The intended purpose is hunting small game. I wanted something with excellent accuracy and excellent reliability/durability.

This is what was recommended. The LGS I ordered it at specializes in outdoor sports and hunting, and the guy who sold it to me hasn't steered me wrong in the past, so I trusted him on his recommendation. He first recommended a particular Ruger model, but it was nearly $700, which was out of my price range. My budget was $300.

How'd I do?

Here's the specs:

It won't arrive for at least 2 weeks, and might take up to a month, which is ok because I'm in no rush.

I've already stocked up on CCI ammo in the past, because I've found them to be the highest quality commonly available .22's (at least in my opinion). I like the Stingers, and the Velocitors and have a lot of them on-hand. Of course I also have a bunch of their middle-of-the-road Mini-Mag HP's as well (middle in terms of grains I mean). I hope this will work well with all of them.

If your FV turns out to be as good as the BV (with AccuTrigger) I own then you will be very happy with it.

same gun. I went with the FV (synthetic stock) instead of laminated wood (BV).

One of these days if I find a gun with a hardwood stock I like, I'll buy it. Until then all of my rifles are synthetic stock.
