Does anybody have any plans or any links of plans for building a gun cabinet? I'm loking for a woodworking project to do and want something that is similar to the dimensions and configurations of a gun safe, but to be used as a gun cabinet. Maybe about 5ft. or so high and able to hold 5 long guns. I want it to be fairly plain styled so whatver ideas you've got or possibly pictures or your projects would be great.

I saw that when looking around. Nice cabinet, but didn't fit my description of what I was looking for. I want something that is in the dimensions of a gun safe. Basically I want to make a gun safe out of wood. No see through display panel or anything. It's basically for storage and to look nice. Not for display or security.

Alright found something and am halfway done now. Maybe I'll post pictures when I'm done.

Please do post pics, I'd like to make something like that but about 3x wider, I have 1000 board feet of 1x10 black walnut laying around... going to cost more in woodworking tools to build it than it would to buy it! Anyone have a jointer I can borrow?

I'd offer, but I'm nowhere near PA. :D

Gun cabinets are a great way to lose your guns. Trust me.

Right before Christmas, I was burgularized and the ONLY thing they took in the house was the 6 firearms that were in my gun cabinet.

And this happened in an area where I have no neighbor within 3 miles, and live behind an remote-activated security gate. Granted, I could have had a lot more precautions in place, but I did feel safe where I was. I only want to bring up the safety issue.

After that, I'll always feel a firearm displayed is a firearm at risk. I have a safe now.

Good luck on the project however!

I built one without plans.

That was a very long three days.
