:(

I'm going to cry. Took it apart and all these pieces fall off. It can't be this way if I'm going to have to clean it everytime. Who here has a G22? Know any good cleaning guides online?

You may want to try over at rimfirecentral.com, I know they have it for the P22 and there was talk of making a thread on the G22 as well.

Yeah, I've got one.

Ummm... My advice: never take it apart again. It's just not worth it. ;)

haha i wish. ultrasonic cleaning would cost a fortune if it's done on a regular basis, wouldn't it?

When it comes to .22's, I don't normally clean the barrel and only wipe out the crud on the bolt face and chamber when it builds up really bad. You should be able to put thousands of rounds through the G22 before needing a teardown for cleaning.

I know, I used to be a compulsive cleaner and still am on most hardware. My 22's get less attention because they don't need it. The G22 does have some fiddly little springs on the mag safety and bolt hold open devices. I blocked the mag safety and just watch the hold open when I break it down. Not that big a deal, really.

1 can of Gunscrubber.

1 .22lr boresnake.

1 can of Barricade.

that's all you need.

Well said, I love the G22 but it is just not worth taking apart regularly, I suppose if it ever gets dirty enough to jam I will, but after taking it apart a couple times, now I just clean what I can without stripping it. I haven't had any problems as of yet.

The manual is the only guide I have seen, and it is not great, you do need more up close pics of how the pins that fly out are supposed to go back in. No matter what I do, one always flys out even when I try to hold it together.

This is why I'm hesistant to buy one as my first firearm. Yes, it's 22LR, a wonderful ammo to learn on (dirt cheap too) but I want to learn good maintainence/cleaning habits, and I'm a little intimidated by the stories of spring and pins flying all over the place.

I may just get a solid bolt action like a CZ 452 instead.
