Anyone have experience with Magtech First Defense ammo? It features an all-copper bullet along the lines of the Barnes X-bullet and is much less expensive compared to Corbon DPX.

I haven't seen that bullet out there yet...and, I too, am interested in the all copper bullets. I saw little difference between the Taurus and the Corbon to date. Presently, I am using the DPX in all my weapons. I do so love competition, however. We need cheaper copper-tops.

Since Magtech is manufactured is Brazil, I assumed they were making the Taurus round. Midway has had some of these available, but I haven't put them thru their paces yet.

Kinda like the thought of a "Lead free goblin".

I can't find them on the Midway site. Do you have the link?

Thanks

Thanks for the links. I wonder if the bullet will be available for those of us that reload? And if it is will it be less expensive than the Barnes XPB.

Don't know what caliber and barrel length you intend to use the Magtech in, but in .380 out of a short barrel it may not expand as well as some others.

Bobo,

The photo you referred to is of Magtech Guardian Gold ammo, not Magtech First Defense ammo. Different product. The Gold is a jacketed design, rather than solid copper.

Yup...copper tops are the bullet of choice out of small barreled pistols and revolvers. Soon...every vendor will be stocking them as the "superior" product.
