Anyone have a Sig P220 SAO?

I just picked one up this morning for a relatively good price. I have been looking for one since they came out. For those of you who have one, what do you like about it the most? I measured the trigger pull on mine and it's 5lbs. 8oz, which is less than I though it would be. I like the feel of it and I am looking forward to taking it out to the range.

I had a chance to fondle on recently. I like the ergos & the pointability and the SIG pistols have an awesome reputation. I think you've got another great addition to your collection! ;)

Thanks 10-Ring. I plan on shooting it this Friday. I have not been to the range in awhile due to my second son being born on 2/13/07.

Will do. ;) I am in the process of loading some 200gr. plated RN, 200gr. Hornady FMJ-C/T and some 200gr. FP's.

Well hopefully that Sig 220 will be passed on to your new son.
Congratulations. Show us pics of your babies (the Sig and your son!).

and now know what my next handgun purchase will be: P220SAO Elite
I loved the P220SAO safety and trigger. The handgun pointed and balanced well. What I didn't like was that my thumb web kept slipping over the vestigial beavertail when I offed the safety. On the other hand, the P226 Elite sitting next to it felt great. I was initially skeptical of Sig's inclusion of beavertails into some of their new models, but holding one made me a believer. I'm thinking the P220SAO Elite will be just about right. :)
treebeard,
Please give us a range report after you take it out!

Not only do I own a P220 SAO but I have shot it. Very accurate, at least for me and I am not hole drilling master. I had read on the internet of complaints about the safety being hard to engage or disengage but I never had and problems with mine. Now if Hogue would just make some thin Alum. grips for it I would be set.

I have not noticed anything that would lead me to believe that the safety would be hard to put on/off. I really like the feel of it, and for a sem-auto I think the trigger is pretty good. Here are pics of my 14-month old and my new one:

Thanks for the compliment. I am also looking at the P220SAO Elite as well. I almost bought a mid 90's Made in West Germany Sig yesterday too. The finish was kind of worn off around the edges, but it felt sweet and the trigger was real nice as well. Then I saw the P220SAO and that was that. :D

I have nearly 1,000 rounds through my P220 SAO. It is a fine shooter. I routinely get 8 round holes and four inch groups rapid fire.
It fits in my Milt Sparks VM-2 holster (made for the regular P220).
My only complaint with it is shooting right handed "high thumb" (with the thumb on the safety), it is very easily to press on the slide release. This prevents the slide from locking on an empty magazine.

What type of ammo do you usually shoot through it? I plan on on using my own loads.
