My office mate is getting into shooting sporting clays and is looking at Barretta but we can't break some of the codes.

For instance, I know there's Improved, Modified and full choke but I can't remember the number of "o's" stamped on the barrel for each..

Another question was barrel length. do they measure from where the barrel meets the receiver block or from the very end of the block to the end of the barrel..

On the catalogue page they have something about the rib being 6x6 now I thought the rib was on the top side of the upper barrel, and I have no idea what the 6x6 is referring to unless it is the checking pattern along the top.
This same page talks about MCF option and I can't figure out what they are talking about since it is "MC" or "F" .

The real question he has is what should he be looking for? Recoil pad?
for Non-hunting uses like skeet and trap what's the best recommendation?

Thanks

Go to this link and scroll down to the bottom of the page. The chart lists the markings for fixed choke Beretta barrels and Mobil choke tubes.

Barrel length on an O/U is measured from front to back of the barrel set.

Not sure, but think 6x6 refers to the width and height in millimeters of the rib.

Will, please correct me if I'm wrong. ;)
