I've ordered one of these from http://www.pyramydair.com/ and I noticed that they say to use steel bb's. Do I need to buy steen or can I just use the copper heads I use in my Powerline 15XT?

copper heads are steel BBs, but have a copper wash. I use them in the same gun all the time. You can always check with a magnet if in doubt.

Crosman plates their BB's in copper. Daisy (Powerline) are zinc plated. Both are steel. What they don't want you using is the Gamo and RWS lead BB's.

Thanks it just arrived at the door about a hour ago. Awesome bb gun I love the feel of the kickback on it and I love how most of it is metal.

Normal BB's - Copperhead (Crosman) or Powerline (Daisy) are all steel. Copperheads are copper plated, Powerlines are zinc plated.

As a side note, Gamo lead BB's do work in the PPK and its close cousin the CP99c and are considerably more accurate but exit with even less velocity and are more likely to jam through deformation. That's why they're recommended against.

The Gamo lead BB's are also a tad greater in diameter than the steel ones. My gamos mic out at just over .180. The crosmans I mic'ed came in at .171. I have a Baikal magazine fed CO2 pistol, and the gamos often can't be loaded in to the mag due to size. They will shoot single shot. With it's rifled barrel I'm hesitant to shoot the steel BB's so it's prettty much single shot for me:(

I've also ordered a CP99 Compact anyone got one of those? It will be here in a few days.

I have the fullsize CP99. It's got a lot of pop for a C02 pistol (but would never EVER use it for anything other than target/plinking, it is not a hunting air-arm by far) and is actually heavier and beefier than the real gun (unloaded)! But other than that, it's well built, solid air-pistol/replica. The DA pull is pretty heavy and takes practice to keep on target rapidly firing, but the SA trigger is lighter and more crisp. Any questions let me know.

I've got a powerline 15xt and man that thing is almost too loud for backyard plinking.

Oh, also note that if you use lead BB's in a repeater (specifically the CP99c) the magnetic detent that holds the BB-to-be-fired in place obviously won't work on lead... Wave the gun around hard enough and you can get BB's to roll out of the barrel.
