What is the reputation with the aftermarket M1 Carbine mags? I.e., is it like the AR-15 where there are a wide variety that function well, or the Mini-14 were anything that isn't Ruger doesn't feed?

In particular, does anyone have any experience with the 20 rounders Sportsman's Guide is selling here:

I don't know myself, but I'd really appreciate it as well if someone could chime in on this. I've heard vaguely negative things about some of the aftermarket magazines, but nothing really concrete.

I don't know anything about those particular mags from Sportsmans Guide, but I would be very leary of any non-USGI carbine mags in general. I had a couple 30 rounders once that were junk. My M1 carbine works fine with the two USGI 30 round mags that I have but if you want total reliability (or as close to it as a carbine comes) the USGI 15 round mags are your best bet. Aftermarket carbine magazines in general have a bad reputation.

I had a couple of non USGI magazines that were clearly inferior to USGI and you could tell just by inspection and fiddling with the spring/follower. The sheet metal was thinner and the spring softer. Most info around the internet suggests that the aftermarket magazines are not as reliable as USGI.
