I'm looking at the LG301 version of the CTC grips for a 1911 FS.
I have held the 401 model that has the front activation bump thingie, but I don't understand how the other model is "activated". Personally, if it was a on/off switch, that would be fabulous, but any pointer appreciated.
Thanks.

There are switches about where your middle finger rests that activate the laser. There also is an on/off switch an the grips. It's by the mag release. Can you see the little circle just above and to the left of the bump on the front strap? That's the activation switch. There's one on the other side too.http://www.crimsontrace.com/images/product/lg301_zoom.jpg

Both models have a master on/off switch. The only downside I've found with the LG301 model is if you lay a loaded pistol down on its side with the master on, the laser can/will come on. You won't have that problem with the LG401 model.

I've only had the 401's on my 1911's, but had the side button activated ones for my Ruger P-Series. Both were equally easy to use.

I like the front activated models because it's easier to turn on the laser (at least for me). The on/off switch can be seen in the lower right of the grip. I carry this full size 1911, but also have the S&W 642 with the CT grips.
