Too many. It seems it's quite a process finding what works and what doesn't. Add to that everyone is different. Best advice: Buy from a vendor that has a good return policy. JMO. ;)

Mostly in a pocket holster. When I don't have to wear a tucked-in shirt, an IWB holster. I've got a couple of OWB (is that a term? LOL) holsters, but they require a longer shirt (or a jacket) than I usually wear. I also have a shoulder holster, but rarely wear it as I know there's a good chance I'll want to shed my coat.

I think that anyone who CCWs for any period of time will pursue several lengthy journeys:
1. The Search for the Perfect CCW pistol.
2. The search for the Perfect Carry Method.
These two journeys intertwine, and as #1 evolves, #2 may as well.
I don't think I've reached the end of either road yet, but it's been fun so far. I see quite a few threads on closet-cleaning, wherein the poster is selling a bunch of barely-used holsters. I need to post one of those threads myself--thanks for the reminder.

A leather OWB belt slide, a nylon OWB with thumb-break (pancake?), a clip-on nylon (?) IWB that can be used in the pocket too since it's so small, and a nylon ankle holster. Attire determines method of carry. I'm happiest with the clip-on IWB, and it was the cheapest one. My leather OWB is nice, but it doesn't have a skin guard so the slide often rubs into my side and chafes. In the cold, it sucks since the slide is like ice and makes an undershirt required.

write "holsters" on it in big fat letters. You will buy the cost of your pistol in holsters over the years. Add them to the box. They make wonderful gifts, and if you get low on cash, they are easy to sell here for about 60% of their value.

Only two for my main carry. Leather and kydex. Kydex if it rains, 3 times out of 365 days a year :D

Before getting CHL I used only OWB holsters from Sparks and Alessi. After getting CHL, I ordered and am currently waiting delivery on IWB holsters:
- Sparks #1 Heritage
- Alessi PCH
- Garrity Incognito Deluxe.
Belts used are from Alessi and Bulman.
Good shooting and be safe.

Carry methods...5 versions for 2 CCW pistols, most commonly. Several additional options for a couple of different additional pistols, if the mood strikes.
And what the others said about experimenting with lots of combinations over the years. Expect it.

For my 3" S&W 66: Alessi Bodyguard shoulder; Tucker Texas Heritage IWB; Desantis OWB; Smart Carry; chestband; waist pack. For range carry, I've also got a Bianchi shoulder rig and a Triple K flap holster.
Then there are various other rigs for various other Smiths and CZ 75B's.

For my primary CCW, a Kimber Compact CDP I have two shoulder holster rigs, three IWB holsters, and three OWB holsters. Eight for the Kimber.
For my smaller CCW, a Kel-Tec P3AT, I have three pocket holsters, one IWB and one OWB holster. Five for the KT.

I made my own holster and it, of course, is exactly what I needed. I'm a big fan of the BFR club, and that's why I carry this gun, the Charter Arms 44 Bulldog. I do, of course, realize I'm not packing very many rounds

I never tuck in a tshirt unless in uniform, and I can't carry then anyway. However; I normally do wear a tshirt as an outergarment. The following pic has me pulling my duty tshirt so tight you can see the shiny belt buckle through the shirt; and still nothing identifiable as anything underneath!

How does yours compare?

I own several holsters for each of my pistols... SOB, shoulder, paddle, slide, western, pocket, SmartCarry and a homemade cloth one. Humme, Fobus and Galco are some of my favorites.
I wear the SmartCarry or my homemade cloth when wearing a suit or in hot weather with shorts and T-shirt. Check out the SmartCarry website. I've had mine for several years and like it.
See attached photo of homemade cloth. Swim trunks will hide it, with no T-shirt. Fanny packs, coat cell phone pockets, in the cowboy boot have all been methods of carrying. Some work better than others.

IWB holsters -- strong side
IWB holsters -- weak side
Pancake -- OWB strong side
Small holster -- strong side appendix carry
Paddle holster -- either strong side or tilted for cross draw
Duty holster -- strong side
Pocket holster -- pocket, appendix, or strong side carry
Dillon daytimer -- anytime carry, storage
Rifle Bug out Bag -- holds pistol, weak side
Bat Bag or chair bag -- Ak47
OWB Pancake + IWB appendix = two guns
Two IWB requires large pants and is not comfy. Appendix carry holsters require a low NSI (nut squishing index).

I have primarily two guns, two holsters.
A Colt CCO gets carried IWB in a Sparks Summer Special. I can't see any reason to improve on that. I tried a couple holsters including a Kydex, but the Milt Spark's is oh, so comfy. :)
A 642 J-frame gets pocket carried in a Desantis pocket holster. That was my first try at a pocket holster and is pretty much as good as it gets too.
However, I have considered trying an IWB holster for the J-frame as another option, especially if my CCO ever broke or was otherwise unavailable to me.

I have many holsters that I bought while finding the right method for me. I probably have 6 or 7 holsters.
Now 90% of the time I carry IWB with a DeSantis Cozy Partner.
The other 10% is with a Galco Miami Classic shoulder rig.

Half dozen guns, several holsters for each, a couple three or four belts.
Like shoes and underwear, if you wear them every day, you sooner or later amass a selection.
