If you are hesitant to work on a 1911, don't be. If one are not sure that you can refinish a gun, you can. If you think you need a gunsmith for every little task, you are mistaken.

Nice job, excellet report!
I'm still at the "want to detail stip but intimidated" stage of 1911 ownership. Need to order the Kuhnhausen book.

The book is great Sisco! I think a 10 year old could just follow the pictures alone and strip a gun to pins and springs. The wording is easy to follow as well and has some good tips.

I went 'net shopping for vol. 1, found several sources but what was surprising is Amazon.com said it was out of print, limited copies avialable. Two buyers were signed up to buy a used one if anyone had one to offer.

Sisco, I checked last week and Midway had 7 copies available.
I was lucky and got mine off eBay a while back.
