One answer to comfortably carrying a large pistol or revolver

I usually carry in an IWB. Untucked shirt over a t-shirt. However, a large pistol (1911) simply yanks my trousers south. I'm constanly having to pull them up. If I cinch my belt up tight enough, it helps, but eventually things begin to drift again. Not to mention it's pretty uncomfortable. And I wear a good quality gun belt (1 1/2" wide reinforced gun belt from 'The Beltman').

I have found a solution that works very well for me. I have started wearing Perry 'Ruff n' Tuff' suspenders over my t-shirt and under the outer shirt. These things are 2" wide elastic suspenders which clip easily over your belt. They're intended to be worn to hold up a tool belt so you see how strong they are. They come in 4 or 5 colors, but of course, that doesn't matter to me because no one sees them anyway.

You still want to fasten your belt tight enough to pull your weapon into your body, but these eliminate the need to overtighten the belt. More comfort and no more sag. No reason why this wouldn't work for OWB carry either.

Literally, a belt-and-suspenders approach. ;)
