any one know anything more about these. No.1 Mk 3's converted for India to .410 shot gun? i had never heard of these before. but yet 3 of 4 gun shops i went to today had them! ranging from 200-300$ are these anything special?

They work fairly well. Were used for riot control through the middle of the 20th century.

One thing to note they are designed for the 2" British .410 shotshell, not the US style 2 1/2" shells, so if you are intending to use one in the US you have to have it reamed out to hold the longer shell if it hasn't already been done or get ready to make your own shorter shotgun shells.

They are made for a special based on the .303 case. Many of those imported have been altered for the 3" cartridge (this is not a conversion which British gunsmiths will agree to do).

anyone have any suggested prices for these? any info on the ammo? im considering getting it just as a curio. i have a little while to wait as i just bought 2 rifles in 2 weeks. my newest one is still dripping in cosmo. :neener:

I paid around $150 for an orginal about a year ago. Ammo depends on if you have one that has been reamed for a .410 shell or a orignal one. I understnad the value goes down if it was reamed. I have been looking for ammo and unless you load your own, you pretty much out of luck. The recommendation seems to be to fire form .303 brass and load with shot. Since at this time i do not reload i am out of luck too.
