Inexpensive, but not cheap

A few of my recent aquisitions that I have grown quite fond of:

Cold Steel Mini Bushman, Svord Peasant & Douk-Douk (thanks MV!) and a Frost laminated Mora.

All are great inexpensive blades, with a total combined cost of less then $85.00. All are hair popping sharp, though the Douk took a bit of work.

The most impressive is the Frost Mora. It's takes and hold a great edge. I keep it handy to use around the house as a do it all utility blade.

I would not feel disadvantaged if these were the only blades I owned.

I have Bushmen in both sizes, as I was immediately entranced by the concept. Incredibly simple, cheap and just interesting. I've not used them very much, though.

Does your Mini-Bushman have the slickery finish, or the parkerized finish? My large Bushman has the rougher, parkerized finish, so I can wrap it with 550 cord and it stays in place. The Mini-Bushman (the more useful blade size) is so doggone slippery, the cord slops all over.

Eleven Mike,

Mine like yours has the slickery finish. I wrapped mine with rawhide and used a dab of crazy glue under the first two wraps to hold it in place. Also plan to turn a hardwood plug to fit in the hilt one of these days.

i bought my son's the small bushmans and they are a little slippery. i went out and bought some 3M rough Grip Tape that you apply to stairs and ladders to prevent slippage. the adhesive sticks pretty well. after applying i gently sanded some of the sharper points down. - Eric
