I heard of some matches held on the East coast for Mosins, Mausers, Garands, etc shot with iron sights only. Anyone have any contact info?
Thanks, John

The Thurmont Sportsman's Club near Frederick, Maryland has milsurp matches.

Haven't been to one yet. Maybe this year?

Do a search on the Google for "Garand Match".
Also stop by your local rifle range and ask. If they don't have matches, they probably know of other ranges that do or contact info for your state shooting association.
You can also look for CMP-affiliated shooting ranges at www.odcmp.com
Good luck!

"...Garand Match..." J.C. Garand matches to be specific. Mind you, a search for milsurp matches will do. Joining a shooting club is likely your best source of local info though. Lots of shooters shoot all kinds of assorted matches at other clubs. Not all of 'em are 'officially' sanctioned, but great fun just the same.

The match info i saw was not CMP or Garand specific. It was for military surplus rifles shot from bench or prone with original iron sights, except that the SKS rifles were allowed to use a scope?? You got your score increased by 5% for using surplus military ammo instead of current production. Thought it was being shot around the Southeast? Anything sound familar? I am in central Florida.
Thanks for all your help. I'll continue looking also, and post info If I see it again.
