Depending on what you want to with the gun of course. I don't believe there are new manufactured guns coming out in 32 S&W so that would mean buying an older gun. I know that ruger is offering both the Vaquero and the SP101 in 32 H&R mag. By the way, any revolver that shoots 32 H&R will also shoot the 32 S&W. My Daughter has a pair of the Vaqueritos (little Vaquero on the single six frame) in 32 H&R which she uses for cowboy action shooting. They are a lot of fun to shoot with either cartridge. By the way there are a lot of old S&W J frames out there in 32 H&R mag that can sometimes be had pretty cheap. Marlin is also offering a lever gun in 32 H&R now that ought to be great for small game. The Contender is also offered in 32 H&R mag and has been a top choice among silhouette shooters for years.

It depends on what you have in mind. If you're looking at current production revolvers the choice will probably be limited to a .32 Magnum. If your interested in an older model, such as a Smith & Wesson 1903 Hand Ejector or Colt Police Positive (both very fine guns) then they'll come in .32 S&W Long (or .32 Colt New Police as the case may be, same cartridge - different names). If you reload you can up the performance of the .32 S&W Long - which is held back in factory fodder by concerns over antique top-breaks.

The strong point of both cartridges is low recoil combined with excellent accuracy. Neither are, or will ever be knock-um-down powerhouses.

In this day and age of ultra-light revolvers chambered in .357 Magnum - and larger - the little .32's or often overlooked. but those that try them are often surprised at how well they shoot, and they make great center-fire plinkers and easy-to-pack kit guns.

I didn't know anybody was makin guns in 32 S&W any more. But anyway, if you get the 32 mag, you can shoot the shorter S&Ws in it.

The 32 H&R magnum is the way to go if you have a firearm for it. Mine is a Ruger SP-101 w/4" barrel. You do need to reload to get the best from it. Hornady makes very good jacketed bullets for it and many others make lead bullets.
