.223 ammo to shoot then reload, give choice please?

I got some Wolf to shoot and throw away but I need a ramrod to help about 1/4 out of my 15" Encore. I was going to buy some AMERC (spelling?) ammo cause its cheap, but it has a bad reputation.
What is a good brass, but inexpensive shooter that I can later reload?

I would get the basic Remington 223 55gr fmj for what you are describing. It's good brass and has no crimp. I'm not sure any of it qualifies as cheap anymore.

I have 5 boxes of UMC cases I got ten years ago at a gun show for $4.29 that I just fired.
Is this in the same or close range of quality?

UMC is the budget line of remington ammo and should be good brass.

lake city surplus seems to be some of the best.

Lake city is mil brass which is good but you have get rid of the primer crimp on the first reloading.

The bulk Ultramax sold by Cabelas and others is Lake City brass. The ultramax shoots purty good too.

Internet has been down. I have Charter Cable. What a surprize.
Will a certain special tool be needed or will a screwdriver work? Do I have to weigh these cases? I heard they run heavy and small on voluume. I was going to load on the light side. 100 yard top range trukey load.

case deburring tool will work fine in most cases for removing the crimp.
put a mild chamfer on the primer mouth and your fine.
Someone might need to correct me here, but isn't it true that the 223/556 brass doesn't require the typical 10% reduction due to it being "milspec"? I seem to remember either hearing or reading about it somewhere that the brass doesn't have the glaring thickness differences that say 7.62/308 have?

All brass has minor variances regardless of mfg. Prudence in working up loads is absolutly necessary. Every barrel is an individual and untill you know exactly how a load in a given barrel will perform, even brass should not be taken for granted.
I use Lake City and IMI for most of my loading. Some of my brass is up to 12 loadings with no sign of problems.

All the Federal XM193 that I shot was Lake City Brass and I did not have to modify the primer pockets. 3/4's of my reloading brass is LC, good stuff. Winchester is also very good. So the Winchester Value Packs are a good way to go.

We all make mistakes.
68 gr .223 purchased from Sportsman's warehouse

Used to measure overall length to handload .223 55 gr v-max and ss109 bullets before reloading.
Us seniors (http://www.prosefights.org/reigps/reigps.htm) are, hopefully, learning to be MORE CAREFUL.

The ding in that case is from being used in an AR/M type of rifle. Hits the inside of the receiver, forward of the ejection port.

black hills ding
I used to see worse dings in the ammo I got right out of the bandeleer, out of the steel can, out of the crate. Only thing I can think of was it dinged when it hit the ground when it was dropped from the helecopter.

Ken, how much brass are you looking for? We might be able to work something out. I'll be visiting B'ham during the AGCA show (last weekend in March, IIRC) and can scare up a load of .223 commercial brass out of my stash. Post here or PM me.
