I've discovered that charles daly makes a 1911 in .40 with a four inch barrel and so does STI. I was just curious as to what other manufactures might make such a gun and also as to whether or not anyone has any experiences good or bad with said gun. Thanks in advance.

Kimber has in the past and may still do. Springfield has in a 3" version, but I don't think they do now.

My buddy has a nice Pro Carry II from Kimber. .40 cal in a 4" gun. Shoots well. All stainless, it looks as good as it shoots.

My brother is a detective in Washington State and carries a Kimber Pro Carry in .40 while on duty. His agency has not approved .45 yet.
