Shot my New 1991A1 Today

Well, it was off to the range today to test her out. I changed some with what I was going to fire. I shot 50 rounds 230gr Speer Lawman, 115 rounds of Winchester 230gr JHP. 7 rounds 165gr Corbon Pow'R Ball, and 10 rounds Remington 230gr Golden Saber. Everything fired without a hitch. All firing was done at 25'. When I did my part I could easily achieve groups of one ragged hole. Nothing went outside of a 7" circle, when I fired for combat accuracy. This gun just downright shoots, no ifs, ands or , buts. Not one single incident of hammer bite. This pistol performed better out of the box than two Kimbers that cost $150 and $300, respectively, and a Springfield Loaded that was $100 more than what I paid for the Colt. In 1911's this has to be one of the best out there, period. Now I see why everyone has been raving about them. The only thing I need to do for this gun to make it an excellent carry gun, is get it a good IWB holster. I even like the hardball style sights that come with it.

Good to see another Colt has found a good home! Congrats ;) I was totally happy w/ the performance of my '91a1 too. Then I mae the mistake of replacing this & fine tuning that. Ended up w/ a $1k + '91a1.

Bone Stock Colt 1991A1 here and I love it. Has run flawlessy from the beginning. I would put it up against Davidtdms Kimber Pro Carry any day.

I had a 1991 Compact about 10 years ago and had horrible hammer bite out of it. Otherwise, it was a great pistol that ate ammo a friend's Ruger P90 would not cycle.

I have a 1991A1 that I bought about 5-6 years ago. More accurate than a Government model into which I sunk $800 (total for gun and accuracy work). I replaced the grip safety with a drop-in Wilson model that looks just like the custom one that is on my Government model (OK, so it doesn't quite fit that tight). Nothing else was necessary. Sadly, I became enamored with Glocks shortly thereafter, but I still have it (along with the Government model, Officer's ACP, Para P-13, and Kimber TLE II).

I have an early 1991A1 in park finish, and a new rollmark stainless from last year. The former's been modified a lot, more for fun than any real need. The latter is perfect as is.:D
They are terrific pistols

I'd like to buy a Colt but just cant bring myself to do it. First off they are a series 80, second I can get a Springfield Mil Spec for $449 which from what I've seen has a better fit and finish.

Whatever floats your boat schap. You read enough about each manufacturer and you find people with issues. I found more issues with SA and such. Salesperson actually downsold me from a Kimber TLE II that I was originally looking at. A lot of people have the opinion that Colt has the best steel and internals going right now. The Series 80 is a non-issue with me. Doesn't affect the trigger pull from what I can tell. Trigger on my Colt is better than the TLE I looked at.
