I've been looking at a NIB python 4" at the range. Every time I pass by the gun case, I start to salivate. Here's the rub..they want $1200. Is it worth the price? I'd be poor but happy.

Is it worth that price? I don't know. What do you think?
Will it sell at that price? Yes, it eventually will.

Is it blued or stainless? About how old is it? When you say, NIB, it does have the box, right?

i get faced with this from time to time. the answer here is: if it is a gun you truly want and have been wanting for awhile, what, really, does a couple hundred bucks mean over the course of a lifetime of enjoyment?
i say work 'em over on price as best you can, and then break down and buy it before you regret it.

Seventeen years ago a plain old NIB 6" blue Python with rubber grips was $599 and that was a steal. A small town dealer was getting more than $700.
That was a lot of money back then and $1200 is a lot of money now, so not much has changed.

That's the least expensive one I've heard about in a couple of years.
I would buy it.

If a NIB 6" blued Python is something you've ALWAYS wanted and never bought, I'd say go for it !! They definitely aren't going to be getting any cheaper, and more than likely will be going for $1300 or $1400 in another couple years at the way Colt prices are going.
This fall I too HAD to buy the NIB 6" blued Python I'd always wanted. My Dad had one and always swore I'd have one myself some day. I found one at a local gun show for $1000 and snatched it up immediately

Just got my first and only Python as a Valentines Day gift from my wife. Blued, 6" from 1981, all original at around 98% condition. I know she paid $900 plus tax which is about the average from what I've been seeing. For a four incher $1200 is about right assuming mint condition and original. Some things might make it worth more but if you don't buy it for $1200 today someone else will before long. If it's anything like mine the only regret you'll have is not getting one sooner.

Sounds like a no brainer to me. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if it is indeed NIB

If I lived in PA I would be driving around checking every range until I found it. I sold my 8" Python about a year ago and still cry about it every night.

This specimen is blued...no wear from cylinder turning..or anywhere else for that matter and is tighter than Ellen Degeneres at a tailhook party. It does have the original box. The dealer was unable to tell me when it was made. It has rubber grips but these will be replaced with wood. I'm going to the bank tomorrow!!
