I have a Smith & Wesson 460 XVR with a 8" barrel. It comes with a Bushnell 2-6 scope. It has been shot very little. I was wondering what I should ask for it.
Thanks,
Shayn

Find an interested party. Go to the range and ask him to shoot it once with a hot load with his mouth open. Afterwards, bend down and collect the gold fillings from his teeth and call it even.

Wholesale on the gun is 822.50
The scope is a cheaper model if a big name it will be 50% of wholesale.
I would offer $700 tops as a dealer

$700 sounds very low for a gun which Lists for $1,256 and was not fired much, but that's just my opinion. I would say ~$900 but I don't know what they cost new in a shop.

Of course you would screw somebody over by offering $700 as a dealer, then you would resale it for a $1000.I never trade or sell guns to dealers any more because I get tired of taking it up the ars.$900 is perfect

No one's being cheated. The dealer buys a new one wholesale for $822 and sells it for $1,256 he makes $434 to cover his overhead and obtain a profit. If he buys someone used gun for $700 and sells it for $1,000 he makes $300 to do the same. Seems like his money is better spent on the wholesale gun when you do the math.
After having the unpleasant experience of shooting one of these S&W 500's, you'd have to pay me to take it off you hands.

Steve...not many gun dealers around here or anywhere else, make any where near 50% mark-up on new guns....they tend to sell them for near cost with hopes of selling accessories and ammo...used guns are where the profit margin is. Most used guns get sold to a dealer because either the owner dislikes it or needs the money, in both cases it is easy to get the gun at a good cost. I myself have no problem with someone making a profit as long as it isn't off me.....aint that the American way?
As far as paying you to take that gun, don't judge the .460 by your experience with the .500......two completely different guns. As I have mentioned here before, my 14 year old son shoots mine and enjoys it. But then, maybe he's just a better handgunner....to each their own.
shaynster....I think you are asking a fair price for the gun.
