Are all the parts in 870 interchangeable with all 870's? I picked up a new stripped receiver for almost nothing and have almost enough spare parts to build it but this is a new style receiver with the dimples in the mag tube and all my old parts are from a early 90' gun including a steel trigger assembly. I think all the old parts will work just fine in the new receiver but want to make sure Remington didn't do some spec changes in the new express, also the old style trigger group is very tight in the new reciever and you have to really hammer it in with your hand.

I've never had an issue putting parts from an older 870 into a newer one.

As for the dimples in the mag tube, I'd drill them out and then you could add a magazine extension.
The 'old style' magazine spring retainer fits just fine in the new 'dimpled' tube.

Congrats on the 'steal'!

I ain't really worried about the dimples it just gonna be a trap/skeet fun gun, I have a couple of other 870's for serious work.

Most parts interchange. An exception, a flextab style shell carrier must be used with the new style bolt and plate, and vice versa.

TGs are not all interchangeable. Some vary by width. It it doesn't go in easily, do not force it.
