Hottest I've found is CCI Ctinger, but then I haven't looked anywhere but local stores.

The Stinger, loaded with, "...a 32 grain varmint bullet at an astounding 1640 ft/sec nominal velocity" (Taken from http://www.cci-ammunition.com/default.asp?menu=1&s1=6&s2=15&pg=3 02/27/07).

The site also lists the, "...Velocitor™, the world's fastest 40 grain hollow point. At 1400+ feet/sec, Velocitor carries energy farther (Taken from http://www.cci-ammunition.com/default.asp?menu=1&s1=6&s2=15&pg=3 on 02/25/07).

Hope this helps. I simply did a Google search using "the world's fastest .22LR"

According to Holt Bodinson of Guns Magazine the hottest .22 lr is the Aguila Supermaximum Hyper Velocity at 1750 ft/ sec. Stinger gets 1640 ft/ sec.

I slipped a viper into a 10 round S&W 22a clip loaded with standard bulk remington .22 hp ammo.

When I hit the viper, I noticed the difference.

Is there a problem using Caps? I do a lot of writing and all Caps is the norm. Seems that on the forums people get offended by them. Anyone got an answer?

The caps are too LOUD, I use them sparingly :)

Caps make it seem like you're yelling. and, if i'm anything to judge by, it's cumbersome to read.

to answer your question, i haven't used many different kinds of .22, but CCI Stingers are pretty snappy.

Do you know how many internet etiquette rules you are breaking by typing in all caps?? One. Don't type in all caps.

To get this back on topic somewhat, be sure your weapon can handle high/hyper velocity ammo.

The Aguila Super Maximum is by far the hottest round I've fired. Interestingly, when fired from my Firestorm FS22, they cut pristine 38 caliber holes in target paper. Seriously, it looks like some took a paper hole puncher to the target.

I've fired some of those aguilla super maximum before, from my remington 597. Those are some of the loudest and fastest 22lr i've seen, you could really hear the rounds whizzing doing range - firing some federal bulk next to them was like hearing a .22 short compared to a normal 22lr from a pistol - the difference was pronounced.
Down side is...they were the dirtiest .22lr rounds i've ever shot

I tried to find the Aguilla Super Maximum here in Tulsa and can't find it. Am told it is a Mexican ammo and not consistent. Anyone have problems with it?

Aguila is the fastest, Stingers are the 2nd fastest. If you're looking for defensive though I'd stay away from the Stingers for sure as they a slow burning powder and not much is burned before the bullet leaves the barrel of a handgun. The best defensive one I can find is the CCI Velocitor, 40 grains moving that fast will penetrate very well - especially next to your 30 grain.

Aguila Supermax is some bad stuff out of a .22LR pistol, feels and sounds like a light .38 special.

scottw, I get it from Cabela's, I have noticed no quality or consistency problems. It's much better than the Remington bulk pack.

I use only stingers and velocitors in my Kimber/Ciener conversion kit.

The Aguila SSS (60 grain subsonic) have quite a bit more recoil than anything else I've fired. They group about the same as the Federal bulk pack.

I never really understood the "caps" thing either. A letter is a letter, caps or not. I can understand it's not proper, but it's only the internet. Mountains-molehills IMO.

I made a mistake in posting in all CAPS. I did so not knowing that it is considered rude. I am posting this in the auto thread as it is the only one that I use and all the problems are in this heading.
I looked up the proper etiquette for forum posting and learned a lot. Also found out that trolling is rude, not staying on subject is rude, to make a derogatory remark to someone is rude, and to correct someone should be done in a private message and not to do so is rude. Seems there are a lot of rude people on here. I can say I did not know any better. Like to hear what others think.

Closing this, for reasons that should be moderately obvious.
