If we stop it in the Assembly for the rest of this week it is done
for the year . If we don't it is likely to pass the Senate ( we have
less
influence there) and the Gov. will sign it. That means a brick of .22
cal ammo could have a $50.00 tax added on.

Make the call, and keep it up this week.

AB 992 (Ridley-Thomas) - Ammo Tax - This bill would levy a tax on
the sale of ammunition of 10 cents on every cartridge sold at retail
to fund a ³Victims Reimbursement Fund².

AB992 is on the Assembly Floor and could be heard at any time,
probably today.

AB 992 was to be voted on today 6-6-03 in the Assembly.
I can't get any info on the net as both the Calnra website and California's legislative website isn't updated yet.

Incoming reports at www.calguns.net indicate AB992 died on the floor of the California Assembly last night. It did not come up for a third reading and died a much too gentle death...

Rock ON! This one had a seriously ugly side to it well beyond the additional cost incurred. It would have been a massive backdoor to de-facto banning of recreational shooting. My own state (IL) would surely have followed suit shortly.

This would effectively kill all ammo sales in Kali. Everyone will just order it themselves. As if Kali gunshops aren't already hurting enough, imagine this on top of it. However reading earlier about the $60 transfer fee that some gun shop crooks are charging, I'd like to know why they charge that much in that hellhole known as Southern Kali.
