I am having trouble getting my 11-87 back together. Once the trigger is reinstalled the weapon won't fire. I am most likley doing somthing wrong. I hope somone can help.:banghead:

Questions :

1.) By "trigger" do you mean the trigger housing group ?

2.) By "won't fire" do you mean the hammer will not fall , the trigger will not pull to the rear, or the shell won't go off ?

1) yep trigger group.

2) Hammer will not fall.

I don't want to sound condescending, but is the J-lock on? It happens...

I guess the first thing I would do is see wether the hammer will fall while the trigger group is out of the gun. With the hammer cocked, and the safety off you can depress the disconnector (arm that sits on the front left side of the trigger group - push down on it to dis-engage) , and while containing the hammer so it doesn't fly forward, you can squeeze the trigger to check operation.

Simple things like the safety being imployed as mentioned, and of course make sure that the hammer is in cocked position prior to installing the trigger group.

If the system functions OK outside the receiver then make sure that the disconnector arm isn't bent. The tip of this arm should ride on thebottom of the left action arm. If it doesn't the disconnector will prevent funtioning of the trigger hammer.

I have a new 11-87 with the same problem, occasionally I have to jiggle the bolt to get it seated properly. I just cleaned it inside and out and I'm hoping that rectifies the problem. There was some gunk on the gas tube that I suspect wasn't allowing the bolt to move forward properly.

I've never dissasembled mine to the point to where I had to re-install the trigger housing...

Thanks to all who replied. I did check and the safety was off. Hammer does fall outside th reciever. I am away at the moment but will try it again tomorrow when I get back.
