As is likely well known, I believe we have to be visible in our neighborhoods and larger communities.

I see volunteering to be one of the best ways to do so, whether that means working for the local food bank, PALS, a hospital, Big Brother, whatever interests you.

I know time is a precious commodity in so many lives, so if you volunteer, and do so with some 2A logo prominant (or even if you're just a locally well-known gun nut) - let's hear about it!

Me? I work for our local Rescue service as a non-medical volunteer about 10 hours a week at Rescue Base or working a phone tree.

You?

Lutheran Social Services gets my services occasionally. Usually to fix up and furnish loaner houses for homeless/near homeless families...usually recent immigrants. Last year Mogadishu...this year... a 32" Sony, microwave popcorn, some Khat, and Monday Night Football. What a country!

Physicians only collect about 60 cents for every dollar they bill... So I guess I do 40 % charity work.

U.S.N. Active duty 4 years, 2 months and 15 minutes. Inactive reserve 2 years.

Two time president, and six year trustee of my local sportsmen's club: several hundred hours a year.

WA St. certified Hunter Ed. Instructor: 50+ hours per year.

N.R.A. Certified Instructor in Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, Home Firearms Safety and Personal Protection. Also Certified Range Safety Officer. 100+ hours per year.

Chairman of local Community Council Safety Committee (all local shooting issues come there first) 100+ hours per year.

Having the distinct priviledge of being part of the corps of millions of volunteers that make this the greatest civilization that the world has ever known... PRICELESS!
