Taurus strength

After careful consideration I feel Taurus makes a revolver suited for what I intend to use it for, defense and hunting. I am wondering how to determine what models are intended for heavy and frequent use of full SAAMI pressure loads.
For example if i end up purchasing a handgun in .44 magnum, i would like it to be able to survive thousands and thousands of round of high velocity SAAMI loads and not be forced to load it with .44 russian to keep from blowing it apart.

I'm taking it for granted there is a reputable source that claims Taurus revolvers aren't strong enough or are we going with "conventional wisdom" and urban myth again? There is no hard data anywhere that says Taurus can't take it. Granted, it isn't a Ruger. If one reloads and goes over SAAMI specs, then there will be a problem. Most people shooting .44 magnums go with and stay within SAAMI specs with factory or reloaded ammo. If one hot rods the ammo then maybe they shouldn't be shooting or should go with the Ruger. Have you actually polled the Taurus owners who actually have them and find out if there are any real issues or not? Since the first 2 posts are shrouded in generalaties, maybe there should be some hard core fact before the name calling and trashing really gets started. I'm thinking that is why this got started.Prove me wrong.

Weregunner is right,There is nothing wrong with taurus revolver's in the strength department.I had a M44 83/8 that I shot the crap out of,then I had a ragingbull 454 51/2,now I have a M44 61/2 44mag that I will keep because it felt best to me.I know a lot of people would disagree but for the money you save over the more exspensive guns you just can't beat a taurus big bore. They also have a lifetime warranty so if anything did happen to it just send it in.Save yourself a few hundred dollar's and buy the taurus, you wont be sorry.

I have the tracker 44 mag and now have in excess of 200 rounds of winchester 240 grain loads thru it and its just like new. I plan on putting well over 1k rounds thru it without worry.
Dont underestimate Taurus, especially a gun as big as the Raging Bull. With such a small caliber as the 44mag the Raging Bull should be able to eat many thousands of rounds without problems.

Look at the Buffalo Bore website and check out the .44 Magnum +p+. Then read the list of recommended handguns for firing that beast of a round. I guarantee that amongst the various Rugers, you will see Taurus Raging Bull :what:  !!! Nothing wrong with Taurus revolvers, other than the bad rep they get from people who never owned one  . My Tracker never gave me any problems, I am only selling it to fund the hole in my pocket left by the Raging Bull. Last thing, the Raging Bull was designed from the ground up for the .454 Casull, the .44 Magnum is like a 9mm round by comparison.

I'd say the Raging Bull would stand up very well to heavy use of standard .44mag rounds. I'd stay away from any of the lightweight guns by any maker for extended use in .44mag as they will not take it.

The Raging Bull would also be my only recommendation. The RB is one I've been very curious about. I'd like to hear a report if you decide to get it. I'm also interested in the price range.
The biggest problem I might have with this gun is the weight it has up front. For hunting, a heavy underlug weighing down the barrel could be a problem. Holding such a gun without a rest becomes tedious and keeping a heavy barrel floating out in front of you for very long will affect the aim unless you get a quick shot off.
In short, there's a reason why most defense firearms (primarily autos) have good pointing characteristics. Cops like 4-inch revolvers and automatics that are quick to bring to bear. Extra heavy barrels hamper this and how much of a consideration this is for hunting I don't know. I do know that I'd hate to have to use my 6-inch 686 in a defense situation, especially when facing multiple adversaries.
The RB is a big, heavy gun designed for powerful calibers. It should be plenty strong, but I don't know about accuracy. I haven't been thrilled with the Tauruses I've had, but other have been very impressed.

So I can safely assume the non ultralite, non titanium alloyed TRACKER/Raging Bull and mountain/hunting guns from taurus are goign to give years of good service using full power loads for the ammunition it is chambered in?
