Well, since it has a pistol grip, that would lead me to belive that it has probably been heavily worked and modded for all the evil features. That work adds greatly to the cost of a rifle.

One of the tromix guns? Still kinda pricy.

That 600 will be the best price you'll get for a pre-converted Saiga from anywhere.

Tromix converted Saigas are above $1K. I've never seen a pre-converted Saiga for sell below $599 (the 308 I got preconverted).

Now, if you want a pistol grip saiga, you could do the work yourself. Now that I've learned more and have had a chance to look inside mine, that is the route I'd go. Plan on spending about $100 over the cost of the rifle in compliance and conversion parts. If you are looking at a 223 or 7.62x39, add the cost of purchasing a bullet guide if you aren't going to make your own out of a piece of pipe.

Standard 308 Saigas sell for less than $400 just about everywhere I look (including online). A Tromix conversion can be had from FBMG for $750 or so.

rbernie.... you're right. I was reflecting on seeing the ones on Tromix's website. Those are listed more expensively-- I did not count in the options listed.

For instance:

#R05-Tromix Saiga .308
Basic conversion, with Galil style charging handle, flash hider, and HK sights.
With options priced at: $1,060
(Less $350 on customer supplied rifle.)

#R09-Tromix Saiga 7.62x39
Saiga 16" 7.62x39, AK-103 style.
With options priced at: $1,235

This was the cheapest I saw on the page:

#R07-Tromix Saiga 7.62x39
With options priced at: $900

That said, Tromix is still one of the best sources for a HIGH quality Saiga conversion. If FBMG has them cheaper as a bare-bones-version, it would be an excellent option.

J- I think you mean post converted? Preconverted saigas you can get in the 200 dollar range.

if this is a basic conversion, then no , that is way too high.

a plane jane saiga, in 308 , should cost you 350. you should be able to do a base compliant conversion for another 150.

Basic configuration from importer should be $250 (online prices) to $350 (local prices). I don't know of any professional conversion that is less than $350. So total about $600-$700.

You could do it yourself for $100, but it won't look as nice.

If the conversion looks well done, $600 is a fair price to pay.
