Went to take apart my DPMS Panther Lite yesterday, wanted to take a look at the bolt carrier key to see if it was properly staked (it was),after seeing a photo online. When I pushed the rear pin in and pulled on it,it came all the way out, instead of being retained in the lower.Obviously there's something missing, but I'm not sure what the part or parts I need is called. What holds the pin in?What do I need?

I'm assuming that you're talking about the rear takedown pin.

Theres a small spring and pin that goes into the rear of the lower, my guess is that your missing one, or both. They're held in by the stock assembly, so if you've changed it, or had it off, they're easily lost and overlooked. I hope they're easily overlooked, because I overlooked mine when I put the M4 stock on my BM lower...

Anyway, I'm guessing that you need part 20, or 35, or both from this schematic (http://www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/Schematics/SchemMFg.aspx?schemid=812). This is, of course assuming, that part #36 is what is falling out.

Oh, I get it. I was just toying with that part the other day, thanks to the forum members here. I think that if you lost both the spring and the pin you could just take the innards straight out of a lighter, the spring and the flint, and they'd work temporarily.

But I was looking at the pin, in case I lost it (but I foundit under clothes), and you could make your own out of a common wood nail. Just clip the head and tip off, and you've got a replacement pin.

Plus the Bic spring.
