Bought a box of Winchester USA white box. Inspected the rounds. Saw a number of them that appeared to have an uneven seating. Worth worrying about? Cannelure was visible on all the rounds, although a few were fairly deep.
One of the rounds :

Boy, that's odd!
I'd shoot something like that in practice, but I wouldn't carry 'em on the street. If my gun was of very questionable strength for the caliber, like a Rossi small 357 6-shooter or a Windicator or something, I might not shoot 'em at all. :scrutiny:
How many others here actually visually inspect each round of carry/defense ammo? I know I do.

I have seen uneven casemouths before. I wouldn't give it a second thought.
However, when I went to reload this brass it would be trimmed square and to proper length.

So you don't think this'll give the ol' Python problems? Seems like the only issue it could cause would be wacky entry to the forcing cone. I'm not really concerned about accuracy. Just safety. I try to be as careful as possible with anything in the magnum range.

No, that won't hurt a Python any.
Pythons are quite strong; the lockwork is weak and eventually needs a timing job BUT that doesn't affect "peak pressure strength".
Won't win you any matches though :scrutiny:.
Anybody asks "why do you handload", show 'em this pic .

Everything I have read about Winchester 'White Box' has been positive as it relates to the .357 110gr jhp-I put in an order order for a case last week...hope it wasn't just BS in the wirte up.

I'm thinking he just got a bad batch. If THAT was common, the accuracy suckage would be too well known :(.

Shot through the rounds today. Quite a few of them (1/3?) were seated ugly like this. The rest were even, but the depth of the seating varied quite a bit. Accuracy-wise, uh...they seemed fine. I'm not that great enough of a shot with a magnum to really tell you if they were bad :)

The only time I'd expect to see that would be with my reloads ... cases which perhaps are gettin old and used for plinking ... not having been trimmed off square ..... and resulting from having been fired before.
can't see all of case in the pic ... so can't see if any sizing marks ... sure looks like case been fired before.... from that. If fresh cases then .... odd!
