I need a little help, I'm beginning to order all the components for my next rifle. I will be using either a Howa 1500 action or a Weatherby vanguard, both short action. I have been told that they are identical actions with different names. I have also been told that the Howa uses Rem 700 scope bases. My question is can I order a 1 piece scope base for a rem 700 short action and expect it to fit either depending on what action I choose to go with?

While on this subject does anybody know why the Leupold base on my LONG action vanguard only uses three screws
