My new security system. (its not a gun)

I had that crummy Springfield Armory paddle holster sitting around not doing anything usefull, so I had an idea.

The weight of the pistol itself was a bit much for the paddle so I used a spare shoe lace to snug it up a bit. It would have held on its own, infact it did, but you could just tell it wasn't ment to be horizontal 24/7. But its all good now.

I can't even remember why I bought the bracket, but I had to grind off some of it because it was going to scratch my 1911 if I didn't. The nuts were just used as spacers.

Nice. Seems handy.

Looks good, but doesn't seem like it is facing the right direction for easy access.

Ya, I also noticed in the pic it almost would look like its pointing at my leg. :what:

....but its not. It feels really comfortable to grab quickly. I have a door to my left so in the event I would have to pull it, its placed perfect either facing the computer or if I swivel a quart turn left.

If you look carefully you can see that it's a "corner" desk so the pistol is pointed in a good direction (towards the wall corner).

I like this idea so much I may do something similar with mine. The XD holster is a rightie and I'm a southpaw so I've been trying to figure out something to do with the thing rather than just throw it out.

Nice ideal Outlaws, thanks for posting it.

Good work - you've found a use for the ever-growing box of holsters. Looks like a good place for a draw - just make sure it stays in the holster securely. Otherwise you might bump it with your knee and have two pounds of steel fall down on your foot.

That a stainless GI model? Looks good.

I did the same thing with my XD holster, except I just use a piece of 1/16" thick, 2" wide aluminum strip that I had sitting around. I cut a piece about 6" long, drilled a couple holes on each end, and screwed it to the bottom of a table. The tension is enough to hold the holster in place, and I happened to have screws short enough that they wouldn't pop through the top of the table (even at 2am when I decided to do it:)). I think it's a great use for those crappy holsters, and it's nice that the holster doesn't need to be modified to do it, which is a plus if it's ever going to be sold.

What about your bracket would scratch your gun? I guess I don't see it. In any case, it looks good. :)

Yep. Got it from a buddy dirt cheap cause it wouldn't feed and would jam. Sent it to SA and they fixed it and covered shipping both ways. I couldn't have asked for better customer service.

It was a T shape. When it went through the belt loop, one of the sections would have intersected with the pistol while holstering. Well, maybe not directly, but I didn't want to have to avoid it while holstering.

I would have used a simple strip of metal but I didn't have one that would fit inside the belt loop. I drilled one hole right on the angle just for support since the weight is right there. The nuts were to space it off the desk a bit to offset the thickness of the belt loop part. They are about .010" thinner so its still a ncie thight fit and holds its firmly.
