the USP is probably the best gun, the XD is the best value IMO

Tough call. I would, if I could afford it, buy several of the .45s you have listed. I voted HK45, but I would certainly buy an XD and the new PX4.45. This is of course going only on your options, because in predictable THR fashion I'd probably buy a steel 1911 before any of these. Also I think the Ruger P345 should have been on that list.

+1 for the XD .45. I love mine. Accurate, reliable (zero malfunctions in 1500 rounds), and tough. These pistols are just as any polymer pistol on the market.
February 27, 2007, 11:14 PM
I own an HK and the last plasty gun I will buy will be an XD.
February 27, 2007, 11:29 PM
i guess no one likes the cz poly series
February 27, 2007, 11:33 PM
Having handled and used the choices I would have to go with, in order:
1. XD C
2. USP C
6. USP F
February 28, 2007, 06:39 AM
I'd go with the M&P.
February 28, 2007, 07:14 AM
Springfield XD Hands down ....BUT you forgot the Taurus PT145 which is a close second in terms of "Poly" .45's.

I picked the FNP cause it's what i want in any pistol. It has a safety and SA/DA trigger. 14+1 is also an attractive prospect. I already know that availability and price will probally hinder that purchase though. I still want one.
I'd also would have picked the M&P 45. After visting there website i noticed they actuall have two models.
One plain jane black one, then(the one i would get) is the one tested for the military. With a tan frame and a manual safety. I carry at the 1 o'clock postion so a safety... you know what... just read my signiture, thats a fact not a statement.

I voted for Glock 21.
But what does everyone see in the XD? Sure it's a bit cheaper than the Glock, but why?
February 28, 2007, 02:41 PM
I do prefer the XD to a glock, specifically for its grip angle and overall aesthetics. Though I also think the current popularity of the XD is in large part a fad , probably mostly due to very good advertising.
February 28, 2007, 05:33 PM
man i wish i could of went to the shotshow i wanted to fondle with this nice piece
February 28, 2007, 06:06 PM
The XD is 13+1 of 45 ACP in a grip with a 9mm girth... the Glock 21 is fat...the M&P 45 if I am not mistaken is going to be another 10+1 45 ACP...Plenty of 10+1 45's out there already...
February 28, 2007, 06:24 PM
i believe that the xd is the most popular just another thing to show my gf so i can convince her to let me buy one
February 28, 2007, 09:17 PM
If money was no object an HK. If I felt the need for a ploy 45 I'd spend my hard earned money on a used Glock 21 if I could find one. I've shot one before and I shocked myself at how good I was with it. I think a lot of it was the Heinie Straight Eight sights it had.

XD45 right now, beats the others hands down IMHO.
I haven't tried the FN or M&P. They look to have great designs also and they actually fit in many different size hands.
March 1, 2007, 05:37 AM
If the M&P 45 is going to be anything like either of my .40S&W M&P's - which by the way has been outstanding - you can bet my vote is going to be for the Smith & Wesson.

I've got an H&K USP Compact and a Ruger P97 and like them both, just not as much as the Sig P220. I know the Sig isn't a polymer frame.
March 1, 2007, 06:58 AM
I have the Springfield XD-45 and wouldn't have it any other way.
March 1, 2007, 03:24 PM
do you have the 4 or the 5in?

Well - not to hijack this thread. But I have an XD45 Service - and it is excellent. However, you know how it is with guns...I'm itching to try somethng new.
So, it's for sale with lots of extras - check the sales forum.

Of the choices listed the XD-45
But G-30 and PT-145 are great choices too...
March 2, 2007, 11:32 AM
i would of put g-30 i just not really up to date on the cz's the only thing i know is they are made around here
March 2, 2007, 11:47 AM
Glock 30 or 36
March 2, 2007, 03:24 PM
My pick would be the HK USP Tactical 45 as the Match Trigger is the best on mine compared to any other DA I own. I don't think CZ has a polymer frame .45. EAA does and mine is good for the money. The trigger is not as good as the HK and the sights could use some work to widen the rear notch.
March 2, 2007, 08:26 PM
Of those listed, I picked the XD since it seems to fit my hand the best.
March 2, 2007, 10:09 PM
the Xd without hesitation. I have both the the USP and XD in .40. and the XD definately feels better in the hand.
March 2, 2007, 11:31 PM
I am an HK Fan myself.
March 3, 2007, 02:29 PM
What about a Kimber BP Ten II?
March 3, 2007, 02:35 PM
It's the gun that I found that shot with the least amount of recoil.
March 3, 2007, 03:23 PM
HK USPf .45... still not understanding why people who pay $650 for a "loaded" Springer 1911 will balk at a pistol that's only $50 to $100 more expensive and then think it's price is still too high to afford. Just sayin'.
