Don't show it on the news!
Are you kidding, the news people do not even know this!
Heck, I would settle for the news people watching this!
Course, if the antis saw this, they would simply say that is all the more reason to ban ALL rifles, since you cannot tell the assault for the semi-automatics.

That's a phenomenal video that should be more widely distributed to inform non-shooters about what modern rifles are and aren't.

In fact, I think the NRA would be wise to buy the rights to this video and distribute it to non-members when it comes time to vote on serious measures that will seriously curtail 2A freedoms (like, 1022...)

Members of the general public cannot own machineguns made after a specific date in 1986. Hence the claim that they're "illegal".

Machineguns made prior to that are, for the most part, legally transferable with the proper paperwork and tax stamp.

Great video.
You won't believe this, but they actually allowed me to post the link to that at the anti gun Brady blog!

Gentlemen, the key, I believe to this whole gun control debate is EDUCATION. These anti's aren't necessarily bad people. They are ignorant people. Yelling at them is hopeless. I am starting to take the tack of education. I VEHEMENTLY disagree with them. But I will try now in a friendly way, to educate them. We may save some. We probably won't save many. But we will save none, by yelling at them. The more we get on the side of freedom, the better.

I believe that many of them DO know this, but don't care. If they could get all guns at once...they would. But they can't. They just need to establish a good next step. Confusion about firearms is good for their cause.

Once they make the "assault weapon" ban really stick, they will go after the "handgun", "sniper rifle", "autoloading weapon with removable magazine", "autoloading weapon capable of holding more than three rounds" and "self-loading weapon capable of holding more than two rounds" bans. Then they will be perfectly happy to let you keep your $1000+ over/under shotgun.

They will let you keep it locked up down at the shooting club. You can keep it locked up behind the counter and bear it to the skeet range or private hunting preserve.

Because they "Believe in the Second Amendment".;)

There is a HUGE distinction here.

There are true "Antis" who will never, ever, ever be swayed by a logical argument.

And there are fence-sitters. Who either do not know any better or just plain old don't care about the issue.

Take a TRUE ANTI out shooting, and he or she will probably write a blog making fun of you. They will not be swayed by logic or even the sheer emotional joy of good 'old safe shootin' up targets.

Take a fence-sitter out shooting, and you probably have a convert to the cause of freedom.

There are people who've been indoctrinated into the "world is dangerous and we will take care of you" mindset. They frighten easily, believe that taxation will save them, and don't like guns because [trite socialist propaganda here].

They're just people. They can experience new things, acquire new knowledge, learn, change, and realize things. Those are the ones you take shooting.

There are other people who fully believe in socialist utopia, even if it kills us. Mankind is the problem. People can't be trusted. Only an enlightened few (which membership they claim) can truly be allowed to run things. Everyone else is a peasant. It is the intellectual who shall rule. It is only by intellect that Man can be saved (the portion worth saving, that is).

While some sort of, er, experience with a gun might be good for them, they cling to their fixed ideas, and conversion really is only attained through a "catastrophic enlightenment" experience.

When you listen to their conversation, they're not "afraid" of guns, they simply believe that gun ownership is anarchy and that guns and their owners must be controlled. They will rant about how "others" are afraid, and how "guns are scary" and that sort of thing. Their rhetoric contains words like 'legitimate', 'illegal', 'evil', 'frightening', 'control', 'punishment', and 'regulate'.

Don't take them shooting. Don't try to educate or persuade them.

Fight them when you must, call them on their lies, and give them no ground. They're not honest and they harbor grudges. They will lie *to* you, and they will lie *about* you.

The ground you want to pick for arguments with them is rights, not guns per se. They want control. Guns are just in the way.

Ultimately they want your rights. Deny them that.

Actually he never took the top cover off the fully automatic AKM, reason being, the full auto and the semi-auto are exactly the same under the top cover, now if he had shown the actual guts of the trigger group/sear/safety lever etcetera (excuse the terminology or lacking thereof), then that would be a different story...
