Or will other Mossberg 500 series wooden stocks fit?
The pics of those Hi-Standard riot guns got the juices flowing...

One more question: What are the differences between the 500 and 590 series?
My 590 in Marinecote with heat shield looks like this 500:

But with the heat shield, obviously.
The 590 listed looks like this:

With speedfeed stock and bayonet ring/lug. Mine definitely doesn't have the ring/lug for the bayonet, nor the speedfeed stock, but it definitely says 590 on the receiver.
What gives?:scrutiny:

The bottom one is just a 590 with a heatshield. If its listed as a Marinecoat gun then its probably just to show what the heatshield looks like.

I bought a speedfeed stock that was marked "Mossberg 500/590". The rear stock fits on my 835, but the front stock does not.
So I would bet that any 500 stock will fit on your 590.

I know; my question is that my 590 doesn't have the rear barrel ring/bayonet guard like the 590 pictured. I got the accessory heat sheild but it came with a black plastic stick that screws onto the front of the heatsheild and then you cut it to length so it butts up against the front barrel lug (see the 500 pic above) and keeps the heat shield from moving forward under recoil.
It APPEARS the 590 above has the same thing, but the stick is cut far shorter to but against the second, rear barrel ring/lug, which my 590 doesn't have.
Curious.
So anyone know the official differences between the 500 and 590? I believe the 590A1 or whatever the military model is has a metal trigger guard and safety, among other differences from the standard 590... but I don't know the differences between the standard 500 and 590.:uhoh:

Found this informative thread in case anyone's interested... still some difficulty determining the differences between the 500 and non-A1 590, though.
The magazine tube is the only thing I could discern that was definitely different between the two.

Are the 590 (NOT the 590A1) and 500 barrels different? I didn't see that in the other thread... they said the A1 barrel was heavier than the standard 590, but nothing on the difference between the 500 and 590 that I could see.

The stocks are the same for both shotguns in 12guage. Most of the 590 mossberg have been sold with sythetic because of demand for them. At one time mossberg sold them with wood stocks. If you are looking to buy a wood set for you mossberg 590 try this site.

I have never done business with them but they seem to have alot of parts at reasonable prices.
Oh yes I do own both the 500 and 590 mossbergs, with folding and speedfeed respectivly.

Doesn't the 590 come w/ghost rings and is parkerized while the 500 doesn't/isn't. Or is that just an option for the 590?

P-B the ghost rings are an option. Here's a link to the 500/590 spec sheet http://www.mossberg.com/products/default.asp?id=5&display=specs
