im coming from UK to canada on holidays this summer. I know canada law harsher than america. i want to hire or obtain for a while a .22LR or even an air rifle to shoot the rabbits there (on aunts land) with out having 2 spend to much spending money hence why i dont want to actually buy an airrifle.

For something like a .22 rifle, there shouldn't be too much complexity in the paperwork. Your aunt might ask a neighbor or frien, on your behalf...

Why not buy a mid grade air rifle, maybe one of the winchesters manufactured by daisy. Less than $100 and you get a pretty accurate reliable peice with real wood, and only a few plastic parts. Teach your aunt to shoot it and she can snipe rabbits whenever she wants instead of calling in troops from across the pond ;)

Check the regs for where you're going - usually rabbit season isn't open in the summer. Varmints (groundhogs, wolves, coyotes, etc) usually are, but again - check the regs.

I believe that in addition to your non-resident small game licence, you will gave to buy a special type of firearms licence to allow you to "borrow" a gun. I believe it costs $30, but you'd best check the CFC web site, because I believe the regs say something about an outfitter. Their web site is www.cfc-ccaf.gc.ca.

Also, on the air rifle, if it fires a pellet at more than 500 fps, or with more than 5.7 Joules of energy (what a .177 pellet develops at 500 fps), then it's considered a "real" firearm, and you still have to go through all the hassles associated with a .22 or centrefire rifle.:barf:
