I own an early ( 1964) Ruger .22 Standard Model pistol. It is finicky with the ammo I attempt to feed it. Which of the cheapo ammo do any of you have good luck with? Thanks.

My 1958 vintage Standard Model does great with the Federal Bulk high velocity, Winchester Dynapoints, and Winchester T22 standard velocity. YMMV, I haven't found anything, yet, that it chokes on.

Have you tried any different magazines?

I've never looked up the date of my Standard Auto, but I had Dad buy it for me new when I was 16, that would place it around 1973. It's never liked anything that had exposed lead bullets. It will often fail to feed leaving a large "smiley" cut in the lead and even bend the bullet in the case. I don't recall any problems with any of the bulk copper jacketed or copper washed rounds from Winchester, Federal or Remington and I go through a fair amount of them. The more expensive CCI mini mag rounds also worked well in it too.
